Start with reality. A useful article should contain a mechanism, decision or observation that could only come from doing the work.
Make the system legible. Diagrams, examples and precise language should reduce ambiguity rather than decorate the page.
Earn the conclusion. General lessons come after the reader understands the evidence and constraints that produced them.
